Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains.

Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains.
-Jean Jacques Rousseau

I remembered reading this quote while studying soci. Of course, the context was that it was against social structure of those days. I reflected and thought that,we were not actually born free, and we are chained by our past, present and future.

Past
imprisoned by the norms, rules and predispositions of our family and living it out, even if the conditions of the past are no longer there.

Present
limited by our present circumstance

Future
contained by future expectations/what is to come

The power of the cross needs to be appropiated to release us from these chains. Allow the power of Him who overcame to allow you to overcome. :)
